Prague – one of the world’s leading musical destinations. The 66th year of the festival that will focus on the centenary of death of the Czech-born Gustav Mahler will traditionally open on May 12 and end on June 4, 2011.
The Prague Spring international music festival 2011 will include the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic, famous singer Thomas Quasthoff and actor John Malkovich.
The
opening concert with Bedrich Smetana´s cycle of symphony poems My Country will be played by the Symphony Orchestra of the Prague Conservatory with Czech conductor Jiri Belohlavek.
